Reg 02 sends 217 athletes to 2023 Nat’l SCUAA Games

The National State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Games have officially kicked off today, October 1, with a grand opening ceremony held at the New Clark City Stadium, Tarlac, Philippines hosted by the Tarlac Agricultural University and the Province of Tarlac.

This year’s SCUAA Games, carrying the theme ‘Unity Through Sports in State Universities and Colleges for National Development,’ has drawn participants from the seventeen (17) Regions of the Philippines.

Region 02 Cagayan Valley sent off a 365-strong delegation headed by the Cagayan Valley Regional Association of State Universities and Colleges (CaVRASUC) President and Delegation Head Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, comprising 217 athletes and 148 technical officials from the different State Universities and Colleges of the valley.

Philip Rasdas, the Director for Sports Development of the Isabela State University, shared his enthusiasm for the games and the competing athletes.

“The National SCUAA Games provide a platform for our young talents to showcase their abilities, forge lasting friendships, and learn valuable life lessons through sportsmanship.

“We wish all our athletes the best of luck and hope they return with a rich experience,” Rasdas said in an interview.

The Region 02 delegation is set to compete in a wide array of sports, including athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, chess, football, futsal, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, and volleyball.
