Demonstrating excellence in research and innovation, student researchers from Isabela State University (ISU) Ilagan Campus achieved an outstanding feat at the University-Wide Research and Development (R&D) Symposium 2026 held at the Isabela State University Echague Campus. Remarkably, all entries from ISU Ilagan Campus secured awards across various categories in both the undergraduate and graduate levels, highlighting the campusโs strong research culture and commitment to academic excellence.
At the undergraduate level, the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology emerged victorious in the Technological Category with the study titled โFootstep-Driven Electrical Energy Harvesting System.โ which was awarded Champion. The research was conducted by Denver Felipe, Cjay Peรฑaranda, Jerald Postasa, Joshua Sebastian, and Jeffrey Tactay. The study showcased an innovative approach to sustainable energy generation by converting kinetic energy from human footsteps into usable electrical power.
Likewise, another Champion title was secured under the Social Category through the research โNosocomial Infection Prevention Practices Among Hemodialysis Nurses.โ The study was conducted by Eljen B. Abordo, Kenneth M. Agub, Luis Carlos C. Angeles, and Avegail G. Bravo, providing valuable insights into infection prevention measures in healthcare settings and contributing to the enhancement of patient safety and quality healthcare delivery.
In the Higher Education Category, the study โStrategies and Challenges in Translating Filipino Literary Text into English Among Tagalog, Ilocano, and Ibanag Learners: A Comparative Analysis.โ earned Second Place. The research was undertaken by Ruffa Mae A. Edrada, Alcher D. Gonzaga, and Leo N. Labay, offering significant contributions to language education, translation studies, and multilingual learning in the Philippine context.
Meanwhile, the study โBanaBond: A Bio-Sealant Using Banana Sap.โ garnered Third Place in the Technical Category. The research team composed of Ronnel C. Cacanindin, Trisha A. Catubag, Dan Angelo C. Dadil-Ahon, Beau Lemuel C. Perico, Marc Jose C. Simon, and Franzes Loren C. Valdez developed an eco-friendly bio-sealant derived from banana sap, highlighting the potential of indigenous and sustainable materials for practical applications.
At the graduate level, ISU Ilagan Campus also made its mark as Maribel D.Bondame secured Third Place in the Higher Education Category with the study โTeacherโs Technology Integration and Learnerโs Digital Literacy: A Correlational Study on Academic Outcomes.โ The research examined the relationship between technology integration in teaching, studentsโ digital literacy, and academic performance, emphasizing the growing importance of technology-enhanced learning environments.
