𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒 | 𝐈𝐒𝐔-𝐈𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐛𝐚𝐠𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫

Technology-based solutions developed by students, graduates, and personnel of Isabela State University–Ilagan Campus earned recognition during the 2026 National Disaster Resilience Month Celebration on July 31, held at Capital Arena.

The celebration served as the culmination of the month-long observance of National Disaster Resilience Month, gathering innovators, students, disaster risk reduction and management practitioners, local government officials, and other stakeholders in the Livable City of Ilagan.

Among the innovations recognized were the Community Risk Assessment (CRA) and IlaganConnect systems.

The CRA helps barangays identify disaster risks and prepare for emergencies by organizing essential community and hazard information in one system.

IlaganConnect, on the other hand, digitalizes records management and barangay services across the 91 barangays of Ilagan City, making transactions and document processing faster and more efficient.

These innovations were developed through the collaborative efforts of ISU–Ilagan personnel and students, earning John Xedric Alejo, Mark Kevin Ramos, Mr. Mark Gil Gangan, Dr. Angelo R. Gamara, and Dr. Roman Alex Lustro the Most Outstanding DRRM Innovator recognition.

Further strengthening ISU–Ilagan’s disaster resilience initiatives is Project HANDA. The project was led by BSIT student Dave Aivan Bernardino as lead system developer, with Lustro serving as project adviser and Gamara as the system analyst.

The celebration also recognized individuals who contributed to advancing community resilience and disaster preparedness. Among the awardees were Dr. Alfonso R. Simon, Engr. Arnold Alburo, Dr. Maribel S. Abalos, Dr. Angelo R. Gamara, Dr. Roman Alex Lustro, Dr. Joey Natividad, Mr. Mark Gil Gangan, Mr. Vhon Ryan Marcelo, Ms. Maria Theresa Nuez, Mr. MarJay Bumalod, BSIT graduates John Xedric Alejo, Mark Kevin Ramos, and Joe Christian Lucas, and BSEE students Rjay L. Andres, Art Shaun E. Cabasag, Ian R. Inocencio, and Jarrell Jay V. Mariano.

These recognitions reflects ISU–Ilagan’s continuing commitment to developing practical innovations that strengthen community resilience and disaster preparedness.
