Empowering Future Midwives; A recap of Midwifery Week 2024

LOOK: The School of Midwifery celebrated Midwifery Week on October 17-18, 2024, at the New CEAT Audio Visual Room (AVR) with the theme “MIDWIVES OF TOMORROW: Crafting Healthy Beginnings through Sports and Teamwork, Skill, Spirit, and Solidarity.”

A Yell Competition, Team Building, Spiritual Retreat, and the SOM Ball were all part of the event. Brother Marcelo Alcantara Marticio of Members of Church of God International led a spiritual retreat on the first day of the celebration. Following that, the program will take place with the participation of campus officials, including Campus Executive Officer Engr. Alfonso R. Simon, Ph.D., who will be represented by Campus Finance Director Armand Francis Ruma, Campus Academic Affairs Director Zach Chamberlaine M. Corpuz, and guest speaker Ma’am Hyacinth P. Bueno, an ISU alumna and TOP 2 National Midwifery Board Exam Passer in April 2022, talked about her path from student to professional midwife, highlighting the value of midwives working together and being persistent. SOM Dean, Ma’am Debbie N. Dalayap highlighted the community impact of midwifery stating, “Ang tagumpay ng isang kumadrona ay tagumpay ng isnag komunidad”.

With engaging games and activities that improved relationships, the celebration promoted cooperation and solidarity. With the SOM Ball, the event concluded on a joyous note, inspiring and uniting attendees.
