ISU-Ilagan Provides Technical and Journalism Writing Skills Training to BJMP-Ilagan Personnel

Language professors from Ilagan Campus conducted a one-day training on technical and journalism writing for the personnel of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Ilagan.
In said training, Dr. Helen T. Asio, Director for Extension Services, Dr. Michelle G. Quijano, Dean of the College of Education, and Dr. Romel R. Costales, Director for Knowledge and Technology Management served as lecturers.
Dr. Asio discussed Common Sentence Error and Dr. Quijano talked about Basic Grammar. Meanwhile, Dr. Costales spoke on News writing and Editorial Writing.
The activity is part of an extension program of the Campus which aims at providing refresher lessons in English to professionals in other government agencies.
Based on survey, many of those in the government service, particularly the uniformed personnel have requested skills training in English communication to update themselves and further enhance their knowledge.
Besides BJMP Ilagan, the program had been extended to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz in Upi, Gamu, Isabela and BJMP Santiago City.
The Campus Extension Office has plans to extend the same services to personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
