ISU Ilagan faculty researchers bag awards during the University In-House Review for Research and Extension

In a celebration of academic excellence and innovation, the Isabela State University recently concluded its highly anticipated 2023 Agency In-House Review and University Research and Extension Symposium held on November 20, 2023, at the Climate Change R&D Support Facility, Isabela State University, Echague, Isabela. This year’s theme, “Research for Development and Innovation (ReDI) Towards Sustainable and Equitable Future,” showcased diverse cutting-edge studies that contribute to the university’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge.

The In-House Review featured a myriad of research topics that highlight the university’s dedication to fostering a multidisciplinary research environment in various disciplines of Technological, Technical, Social, and Higher Education.

Through the effort of the RDET Office of ISU Ilagan, headed by Dr. Ma. Cristina Lalaine M. Nerona and Dr. Helen T. Asio, twenty-seven faculty researchers and extensionists were ushered to participate in the said activity. Esteemed members of the panel of evaluators, comprised of external experts, meticulously evaluated each research project based on its originality, methodology, and contribution to the respective field. After careful consideration, ISU Ilagan bags various recognitions as follows:

Technological Category – 2nd Place
Researcher: Dr. Crestian A. Agustin
Research Title: Simplified Model Predictive Current Control for Surface-Mounted Synchronous Motor Drives with Adaptive Duty Modulation

Technical Category – 2nd Place
Researcher: Dr. Orfel Bejarin and Dr. Maribel Abalos
Research Title: Paddy Rice Classification and Grading Using Infrared Thermography (IRT) and Neural Network

Social Category – 2nd Place
Researcher: Dr. Kathreen C. Joson
Research Title: Adolescent Motives, Gaming Behavior and Its Implications to Learning: The Case of Junior and Senior High School Students

Higher Education Category – 3rd Place
Researcher: Dr. Michele G. Quijano and Dr. Ma. Cristina Lalaine M. Nerona
Research Title: Lensing the Lived Experiences of Faculty Members in Module Writing: A Phenomenological Study

Dr. Alfonso R. Simon, the Campus Executive Officer, expressed his admiration and support for the caliber of research presented during the 2023 University In-House Review with his warm congratulations.
