The League of Future Nurses (LOFN) at Isabela State University – Ilagan Campus has been honored as one of the Outstanding Clubs for UNESCO 2024 in the College Level, Science and Technology Category. This prestigious recognition, awarded by the National Coordinating Body of UNESCO Clubs Philippines, highlights LOFN’s exceptional commitment to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through impactful programs and projects.

Out of 250 accredited UNESCO clubs across the Philippines, the Awards Committee unanimously selected LOFN for its exemplary initiatives that address pressing global challenges in healthcare, sustainability, and community welfare. This achievement underscores the dedication and hard work of LOFN members, who have made significant strides in promoting health education and environmental responsibility within their community.

LOFN will formally receive this esteemed award during the International Assembly of Youth for UNESCO, scheduled to take place from November 29 to December 1, 2024, at the City State Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan. This event will gather youth leaders and advocates from across the Philippines to celebrate achievements and exchange insights on advancing UNESCO’s mission.

The recognition of LOFN aligns with the broader objectives of the UN SDGs, particularly in promoting good health (SDG 3) and quality education (SDG 4). By empowering future nurses through education and community engagement, LOFN is playing a pivotal role in building a healthier and more sustainable future.

The League of Future Nurses’ distinction as an Outstanding UNESCO Club not only reflects the organization’s commitment to excellence but also serves as an inspiration for other student organizations. Through their initiatives, LOFN exemplifies how youth can effectively contribute to global goals while making a meaningful impact in their communities. As they prepare for the upcoming International Assembly, LOFN members look forward to sharing their experiences and continuing their mission to promote health and education for all.
