LGU, ISU-Ilagan Break Ground for a Multi-Purpose Commercial Building Project
The City Government of Ilagan together with ISU Ilagan Campus held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Multi-purpose Commercial Building on August 26, 2020.
Mayor Josemarie L. Diaz along with other city government officials and Isabela State University officials headed by Dr. Ricmar P. Aquino, President spearheaded the activity at Brgy. Calamagui 2nd, City of Ilagan.
The four-storey building shall serve as a commercial center and student dormitory. It will be erected along the national road outside the campus. The area where it shall rise was formerly occupied by informal settlers.
LGU Ilagan shall construct the multi-purpose building on a one thousand square meters of land donated by ISU Ilagan.
Constructed on a build-operate-and transfer scheme, the building is initially owned by the city government and shall be transferred to the Campus after 50 years.
Aside from being another source of livelihood for Ilaguenos, the edifice shall be an added attraction to students and visitors as it adorns the ‘university avenue’.
This joint project of the city government and ISU Ilagan is a realization of the city government’s vision to make Ilagan a liveable city by 2030.
